CTOnews.com Microsoft launched Office A1 Plus in 2015 to help IT administrators migrate users to the cloud. Microsoft announced today that it will no longer support Office 365 A1 Plus Education as of August 1, 2024.

CTOnews.com attaches the following reasons why Microsoft officially discontinued the Office A1 Plus program:

Microsoft introduced Office 365 A1 Plus to schools in 2015 to ease the configuration burden on IT staff migrating users to the cloud.

While the program was originally intended to help schools transition smoothly, it created a degree of compliance complexity for our clients, many of whom inadvertently committed violations.

Today, Microsoft 365 A3 and A5 licenses are easier to provision, meeting customer requirements and eliminating the need for transition programs.

All existing Office 365 A1 Plus licenses will expire on August 1, 2024.

Microsoft said that after Aug. 1 next year, educational organizations with Office 365 A1 Plus users should migrate to Office 365 A1, Microsoft's free plans or Microsoft 365 Education Suite (Microsoft 365 A3 and Microsoft 365 A5) at significantly lower prices than commercial pricing.
