CTOnews.com, August 2 (Xinhua)-- A representative of Hasbro said in an interview that Activision Blizzard has lost the source code of some of its previously developed Transformers games. These games, including Transformers: Cybertron and Transformers: destruction, were made when Activision Blizzard owned the rights to the Transformers game.

A representative of Hasbro claimed that Activision Blizzard was "not sure which hard drives the source code was on in their building", suggesting that the source code was lost during Activision Blizzard's merger with other companies. This has sparked speculation that if Microsoft succeeds in acquiring Activision Blizzard, these "lost" games may be rereleased because Microsoft may be able to find the source code for these games. A Hasbro representative also said: "I hope the ongoing deal between Microsoft and Xbox will go smoothly. They will search all the files and every hard drive and find all the source code, because this is a good value-added for Xbox Game Pass. We hope that these games will be back on the shelves and give players a chance to experience them."

However, Activision Blizzard firmly denied this and said the source code of these games was not lost. CTOnews.com noted that Lulu Cheng Meservey, chief content officer and executive vice president of corporate affairs at Activision Blizzard, also issued a statement on X, pointing out that the reports were wrong and that the source code had never been lost. She further pointed out that "the company owns the source code and has not lost it."

Finally, Hasbro apologized and clarified that the previous statement was wrong. "to clarify that the Transformers game we mentioned earlier has been lost is wrong," Hasbro said in a statement to VGC. "We apologize to Activision Blizzard and apologize for the confusion caused-they have been great partners and we look forward to the opportunity to continue working together in the future."

Although Hasbro has apologized and clarified the facts, the future of the Transformers game is still unknown.
