CTOnews.com August 1 news, Although the new crown epidemic has basically passed, But scientists on coronavirus research has never stopped. SARS virus broke out in 2002, and the research team recently discovered six new antibodies from survivors 'blood, and found that the antibody numbered E7 is expected to become "universal coronavirus antibody."

The project, led by an international team of scientists at Duke Singapore-Singapore National University School of Medicine, found that E7 antibodies can neutralize SARS-CoV-2 variants such as Omicron XBB.1.16, preventing the virus from infecting cells and interrupting the deformation process needed to cause disease.

The team identified three highly effective antibodies, E7, F1 and F5, which demonstrated "superior ability" to defeat 18 different types of Sarbecoviruses at low concentrations ranging from 10.44 to 120.30 ng/ml.

Monoclonal antibody therapeutic agents such as REGEN-COV and Redoxivir against the new crown require thousands of nanograms per milliliter of potency to be effective against the new crown virus strain.

Chia, who led the project, said E7 was the most powerful antibody, binding to both coronavirus spike proteins on the virus's surface and acting like a stick inserted into a tire when the virus tried to invade cells.
