Scientists believe that the interface has broad application prospects in the future, and can directly control human DNA by means of current stimulation, and cooperate with therapeutic doses to treat various diseases including diabetes.

Led by Jinbo Huang, the team developed a technique called Direct Current (DC) Drive Regulation Technology (DART), which triggers specific genetic responses through electrical currents.

Huang and his team make the research device "a leap forward," hoping that in the near future, wearable devices can be used to control human genes and activate certain functions that cannot be activated normally.

The research team stated:

Electronic and biological systems operate in completely different ways and are largely incompatible due to the lack of functional communication interfaces.

Biological systems are analog, programmed by genetics, updated slowly by evolution, controlled by ions flowing through insulating membranes; electronic systems are digital, programmed by software that is easily updated, controlled by electrons flowing through insulated wires.

Electronic and genetic compatibility and interoperability can be improved by developing electronic devices that control the electrogenetic interface of gene expression.
