CTOnews.com noted that at the end of 2022, Acer, Lenovo and Asustek launched some "game-focused" Chromebook, equipped with a high refresh rate RGB keyboard. However, previously, users could only choose from several preset keyboard colors, and could not adjust the light color of the keyboard according to their preferences.

Now, by enabling two Chrome Flag (Enable multi-zone RGB keyboard customization and Enable experimental RGB Keyboard patterns support), users can change the color of the keyboard backlight by partition, rather than selecting only one color. Although the choice of colors is still limited, considering that this feature is still in the experimental stage, Google may further improve and optimize it in the future.

Foreign media Androidcentral has tested this function on Acer Chromebook 516 GE and Hewlett-Packard Dragonfly Pro Chromebook with good results. However, they also tried to plug some game keyboards into Chromebook and found that they could not control their settings. This may be because most game keyboards require third-party applications to customize. Maybe Google will add this feature to Chromebook and ChromeOS in the future, or there may be other solutions.
