Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, July 31, according to pcmag, in a conference call with reporters on Friday, FBI of the Federal Bureau of investigation issued a stern warning and warning about the proliferation of cyber attacks assisted by artificial intelligence programs.
According to FBI, the number of hackers using AI technology for phishing attacks or malware development is increasing at an alarming rate, and the impact of their actions will only grow.
A senior FBI official said: "We expect the AI model to become more widely used over time and these trends will increase," Tuyuan Pixabay reported. "
FBI did not disclose the specific AI model being used by criminals. But the official pointed out that hackers are leaning towards free, customizable open source models, as well as privately developed AI programs that circulate for a fee in criminal networks.
Experienced cyber criminals are using AI technology to develop new malware attacks and better ways to spread them, including using AI-generated websites as phishing pages that can secretly spread malicious computer code, the official added. The same technology is helping hackers develop polymorphic malware that can evade antivirus software.
Last month, FBI also warned that fraudsters were using AI image generators to extort money from victims by making fake indecent photos of their victims.
The exact scale of these different artificial intelligence drive schemes is still unclear. But in today's conference call, FBI agents added that most of the cases seen by the agency involved criminals using AI models to support their traditional criminal plans, including attempts to use AI voice cloning technology to defraud relatives or the elderly over the phone.
According to previous reports from CTOnews.com, SlashNext, a security analysis company, said that hackers had developed an AI tool called WormGPT. The hackers claimed that "the AI tool has no restrictions and is designed to assist cyber criminals and is free to generate a series of malicious code or create phishing attacks."
SlashNext said that WormGPT first appeared in March this year and launched an official version in June, and hackers are now selling the right to use the AI tool.
