Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com July 31, Microsoft is improving Windows 11 operating system support for high refresh rate displays. It's not uncommon to have high refresh rate and variable refresh rate displays in the Windows ecosystem, and even some Microsoft Surface computers come with 120Hz displays and VRR capabilities. So Microsoft wants to deliver a better user experience by introducing some of the necessary improvements and enhancements.

The latest Canary Channel preview of Windows 11 brings two important graphical changes: multi-monitor and energy optimization. The first improvement is for users who use two or more high-refresh-rate displays. This feature allows Windows 11 to adjust the refresh rate based on the specific content on each display. For example, a user may set a higher refresh rate value on one display to play a game and a lower value on another display to view video or still pictures. It's also useful for users who connect their gaming laptops to external monitors.

The second change will help users 'tablets or laptops consume less power when using high-refresh-rate displays in power-saving mode. According to the updated instructions for version 25915, devices with dynamic refresh rate enabled will reduce their display refresh rate to a lower value before power saving mode is turned off. Note that this feature requires dynamic refresh rate support (a feature that dynamically adjusts the refresh rate based on what is displayed on the display).

In terms of other screen-related enhancements, CTOnews.com notes that the July 2023 patch update Tuesday enables content adaptive brightness control for laptops and 2-in-1 devices, allowing these devices to dim or brighten different display areas based on content, which can be customized in Settings> System> Display> Brightness and Color.
