Apple acknowledged the problem and promised to update it to fix it.

Apple launched the screen time (Screen Time) feature in 2018, which includes a setting called "rest time". This feature is designed to allow parents to restrict and control applications on their children's iPhone, iPad and iPod through their own devices. Recently, however, parents have found that their settings do not work, and children can use apps without restrictions and even browse adult content.

"We know that some users may have encountered a problem where screen time settings have been accidentally reset," an Apple representative told the Wall Street Journal. "We attach great importance to these reports and will continue to update them to improve the situation."

CTOnews.com noted that Apple released the iOS version 16.5 update in May, saying it would fix "a problem where screen time settings may be reset or cannot be synchronized on all devices". But in the test, even in the new public beta version of iOS 17, the error still exists.

It's not clear when the problem began, but there are some complaints about parental control on Apple's discussion page that have been around since 2020 and have been going on until this month.
