CTOnews.com, July 29 (Xinhua) Canon recently obtained a patent for a built-in tilting electronic viewfinder (EVF), which greatly improves the camera's ergonomic experience without affecting the camera's size, according to a list released by Japanese regulators.

The electronic viewfinder is a kind of electronic display device that projects the picture captured by the lens onto it. The image displayed on it is used to help the user to compose and shoot the scene.

CTOnews.com is attached with a design sketch from Canon Patent, so the user can pull out the EVF and tilt it up to about 90 °.

Canon installs springs between the moving parts and the fixed parts, making it easy for the user to rotate smoothly and keep the EVF at the desired angle.

Canon also admits in the patent that the EVF's shell will be larger than the traditional EVF, so portable photographers may need to consider it.

Canon says the tilted EVF can greatly improve ergonomics and make shooting more flexible in low-angle or macro environments.
