Revenue from Intel's desktop division fell 11.6% year-on-year to $6.8 billion in the second quarter, down 11.6% from a year earlier, with revenue from the laptop division falling 17.8% to $3.9 billion, according to financial data.

Shipments in the notebook division fell 13 per cent year-on-year due to excess inventory, and Intel's average selling price in laptops fell 5 per cent due to increased demand for educational solutions and the dominance of low-cost traditional chips.

Revenue in the desktop sector was $2.4 billion (currently about 17.184 billion yuan), up slightly from $2.3 billion in the same period last year.

For reasons similar to those in the notebook division, desktop shipments fell 11%, but the average selling price of Intel components in desktops rose 16% due to demand for more expensive products in the corporate and gaming markets.

According to Intel CEO Patrick Kissinger, the company managed to increase its share of the customer market in the second quarter of this year. In addition, this trend has continued over the past four quarters, and management expects to further improve the company's performance with the launch of the Meteor Lake series of processors in the current half year.
