CTOnews.com, July 29 (Xinhua)-- Samsung has taken the lead in the foldable mobile phone market, which has made remarkable achievements in the global market, and will further consolidate and expand this advantage.

While launching Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 phones, Samsung expects sales of foldable phones to grow by 50 per cent this year compared with the same period last year.

Lu Taiwen, head of Samsung's mobile division, revealed at a press conference after the meeting that Samsung sold nearly 10 million foldable smartphones last year, 60 per cent of which came from Galaxy Z Flip4 and the rest from Galaxy Z Fold4.

The total size of the collapsible smartphone market is expected to exceed 20 million this year, according to estimates by market research firms IDC and TrendForce. Based on these forecasts, Samsung has set a sales target of 15 million Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5.

If Samsung can really achieve 15 million units, it will have more than 75 per cent of the global collapsible phone market.
