CTOnews.com, July 29 (Xinhua) Microsoft laid off a total of 11000 jobs in fiscal year 2023 (as of June 30, 2023) and currently employs 221000 people worldwide, compared with the 232000 announced in December 2022.

Tuyuan Pexels laid off a total of 11000 jobs in the current fiscal year, accounting for 5% of the total workforce, making it the worst fiscal year for Microsoft.

CTOnews.com reported last week that Microsoft recently laid off more than 1000 employees, far exceeding its previous plan to cut 10, 000 jobs.

The report said the layoffs mainly involved sales and customer service positions, and some sales teams were laid off. Microsoft's sales and customer service team has thousands of employees at its peak, which has attracted wide attention throughout the industry.

Microsoft also continues to lay off project managers and marketing departments, but has not yet announced specific layoffs.

It is reported that Microsoft has completely abolished the position of customer solution manager, and some of the affected employees have been transferred, but most of the employees have been laid off directly.

Despite the overall decline, Microsoft's international employment increased by 2000 to more than 100000 for the first time. By contrast, employment in the United States fell by 2000 to 120000.

Broken down by department, sales and marketing roles experienced the largest year-on-year decline, with a decline of about 2000 (4 per cent), or a total of 45000 employees, from June 2022 to June 2023.

Product R & D jobs were less affected, with a year-on-year decline of about 1000 (slightly more than 1 per cent) to 72000. The number of employees in operational positions increased by 4000 (nearly 5 per cent) to 89000.
