Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, July 28, CTOnews.com reported this morning that foreign media found that Tesla had the phenomenon of "false battery life", while the US automobile website Edmunds recently tested the range of 61 electric vehicles, including Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Ford, Toyota, Geely's Polar Star, Volkswagen, Chevrolet, Porsche, Audi, Mazda and many other car brands.

▲ Touyuan US automobile website Edmund is reported that the test results show that the mileage of most electric vehicles is in line with the official claim, and the driving range of some real cars actually exceeds the officially claimed range.

For example, Geely's new energy brand Polar Star's "2022 Polar Star 2 single motor long range version" claims to have a range of 270mph (434.52 km), but actually tested 289mph (465.1 km), 2022 Mazda MX-30 claimed 100mph (160.93 km), and actual test reached 114mph (183.47 km).

However, in the test, there are still some car companies' products that "the actual range is lower than the official claim." for example, the actual mileage of Tesla's five models and eight versions have not reached the official target. It is reported that these cars are:

2021 Model 3 long-lasting version,

2021 Model S Plaid,

2020 Model S High performance Edition,

2021 Model Y long-lasting version,

2020 Model X long-lasting version,

2020 Model Y High performance Edition,

2018 Model 3 High performance Edition,

The 2020 Model 3 standard battery life enhancement.

In addition to Tesla, other substandard electric vehicles include electric vehicle startup Lucid's "2022 Air Dream Range", "2022 Lucid Air Grand Touring (19-inch wheels)" and Toyota's "2023 bZ4X Limited FWD".

However, Tesla raised an objection to the Edmunds test a few days ago, saying that the Edmunds did not take into account the additional mileage provided by its extended "security buffer zone". So Edmunds carried out further tests according to Tesla's request (waiting for the odometer to indicate that the battery was exhausted). It turns out that of the six versions tested, only two have reached their claimed mileage.

Jonathan Elfalan, head of automotive testing at Edmunds, said Edmunds then tested Tesla's mileage according to its own standard method, but as of July this year, none of the Tesla cars had reached the range they claimed.

"Tesla is very good at using the rules to maximize certain points that benefit them in the EPA tests," Jonathan Elfalan said. "but Tesla's approach may distort the customer's experience of the car."
