CTOnews.com, July 28 (Xinhua)-- the European Space Agency (ESA) and NASA are working together to launch tests on the International Space Station (ISS) to allow astronauts to remotely control robots on Earth in order to operate lunar landers on the Gateway base in the future.

NASA's goal is to launch the Artemis III mission to the moon in 2025 and 2026, and to prepare for the Artemis II mission next year, which will send a team of astronauts around the moon and back.

The test lasted two hours and was carried out in a simulated planetary environment at the German Aerospace Center (DLR). The center is located in Oberpfaffenhofen, near Munich.

During the test, NASA astronaut Frank Rubio (Frank Rubio) controlled three robots on the ground and was assigned the task of taking the seismograph from the lunar lander and placing it on the ground.

Rubio controls DLR's Rollin' Justin humanoid robot and ESA's four-wheeled two-arm interactive rover, controls the robot to remove equipment from the lander, and then uses the Rollin' Justin robot to place the seismograph on the ground that simulates the lunar environment.

The test provided valuable data support for future missions to the moon, during which Rubio circled the earth at a speed of about 17500 miles (28000 kilometers per hour).
