Zuckerberg said the decline was normal and that retention was expected to increase as the company added more activating features to the App.

Chris Cox, chief product officer of Meta, said the company is considering adding more features that will attract users to stay, such as seeing important Threads on Instagram.

A Meta spokesman declined to comment.
