CTOnews.com July 28 news, market research firm Luotu today released the "China Smart Box Market Summary and Prospect in the first half of 2023" report, the number of online retail sales of smart boxes in China in the first half of 2023 was 929000, down 28.7 percent from the same period last year; retail sales were 190 million yuan, down 31.7 percent from the same period last year, and the average online transaction price was 209 yuan.

From a monthly point of view, sales reached a relatively high value of more than 250000 units in January, benefiting from activities such as the "New year's Festival", compared with less than 160000 units in February and March. It then declined almost month by month, and during events such as the "Mid-year boost" in May and June, sales exceeded 100000 in both months.

In terms of brands, according to Loto Technology online data monitoring results, the top four brands in the domestic smart box online retail market in the first half of 2023 are Tencent, Xiaomi, Semini and Tmall Magic Box. The 5th-10th places are Dangbei, Huawei, Whale, Meifik, Senes and Taijie.

Loto Technology pointed out in the report that the second half of the list is mostly small and medium-sized brands, with fierce competition and "lack of brand recognition and loyalty", and consumers mostly choose to buy because of price factors.

In terms of product power, the penetration rate of 4K definition in the smart box online market reached 98.9% in the first half of 2023, an increase of 5.3% over the same period last year, and the penetration rate of quad-core CPU products was 94.0%, an increase of 1.7% over the same period last year. Compared with the eight-core CPU, which consumes more power and is expensive, the quad-core CPU is still the best choice for the adaptation box.

In terms of annual sales, as the market downturn will continue, Loto Technology predicts that the domestic market sales of smart boxes will be less than 3.5 million units in 2023, of which 1.74 million units will be sold online, down 27% from the same period last year.

At the time, Loto Technology's forecast for smart box sales in the first half of this year was as follows: the online market reached 1.02 million units in the first half of 2023, down 22% from a year earlier.
