The first batch will be shipped in the fourth quarter of 2023, and currently supports booking countries including the United States, Canada, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Austria, Ireland and Australia.

Officials said in a statement today that the response to Framework Laptop 16 bookings was beyond their imagination. Officials had expected to sell the first five batches within a few months, but in fact they were sold within 12 hours. Currently open pre-order batches will be shipped in the first quarter of 2024.

Framework said it was working with suppliers to ensure sufficient production capacity to avoid extending pre-order time to 2024.

The laptop comes with a R7 7840HS processor by default and can be upgraded to R9 7940HS for $200. it costs $80 for 16GB with memory and $99 for 1TB Western Digital SN770 with SSD.

This notebook can be equipped with a stand-alone graphics card by extending the Bay. The AMD RX 7700S is currently available and is priced at $400.

In addition, the notebook also has a choice of border colors, power adapters and expansion cards for various interfaces.

In terms of screen, this laptop uses a semi-custom screen of BOE, with 2560x1600 resolution, 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, variable refresh rate up to 165Hz, 1500 165Hz 1 contrast and 500 nits brightness. The display module can also be replaced by itself.

Officials say the Framework Laptop 16 is extremely rugged, with a shell of magnesium alloy and machined aluminum parts, with a standard thickness of less than 18mm and a unique version of less than 21mm. The notebook shell consists of two core mechanical components: the magnesium alloy bottom cover and the CNC aluminum top cover. Both parts are produced by Framework in cooperation with Catcher Technology, one of the advanced shell manufacturers.

On the battery side, Framework said it worked with ATL to customize the battery, which uses the 4S1P architecture and has four lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 85Wh. In addition, officials have improved battery connectors, using integrated blade connectors to make battery replacement easier. In terms of life, officials say the battery has 80 per cent capacity after 1000 cycles.
