CTOnews.com, July 27 (Xinhua)-- Apple's Vision Pro headset has sparked enthusiasm among virtual reality and augmented reality startups, which have previously lacked financial support and investors are more likely to invest in artificial intelligence, the Financial Times reported.

Apple believes the "mixed reality" device will usher in a "new era" of "space computing" and claims that Vision Pro, like iPhone, will revolutionize mobile computing. This statement led some investors to believe in the potential of augmented reality and virtual reality and began to support some start-ups.

According to PitchBook, American AR, VR and XR startups raised a total of $208 million in June (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 1.487 billion yuan), almost as much as the previous three months combined. The investment was the highest in 12 months, except last December, when Anduril Industries, a military technology start-up associated with mixed reality, raised $1.48 billion.

Before Apple launched the Vision Pro, investment in the sector slowed and investors were careful not to run counter to the world's largest company. But Apple's June 5 launch "generated a lot of energy across the industry," said Ori Inbar, founder of Super Ventures, an augmented reality fund. Investors don't care about the high price of $3500 or the blurred launch date "early next year." Inbar says Vision Pro is "proof that the market needs to show that mixed reality is not on a whim".

However, investment in this area is still negligible compared with the $31 billion that flowed into US artificial intelligence companies in the first half of this year. Nevertheless, the recent increase in interest in this area contrasts sharply with previous disappointment with enhanced and virtual reality.
