Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, July 27, according to foreign media FedScoop, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recently issued an emergency statement denying that it uses ChatGPT to write code in air traffic operation (ATO) or any other system.

▲ Tu Yuan US Department of Transportation previously released a "list of the use of artificial intelligence", revealing the information of US official departments using AI tools, in which the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) was prominently on the list, which was denounced by a large number of media.

According to the Department of Transportation list, the FAA uses ChatGPT to perform "automatic delay detection using voice processing" to classify incident reports.

After being denounced by the media, the FAA recently issued an emergency statement saying that "the list of the United States Department of Transportation is wrong."

As of CTOnews.com, the U.S. Department of Transportation has not responded to the FAA's statement.

It is reported that the performance of ChatGPT in writing code can only be described as "for reference only". The AI tool is not designed to generate code, so it is prone to defective code. For the aviation industry, which places great emphasis on safety and stability, writing code using ChatGPT may lead to serious aviation safety risks.

HammondPearce, a lecturer in computer science and engineering at the University of New South Wales, said it was unreliable to write code using ChatGPT. They tried to create an aviation management system using ChatGPT, and the resulting code contained some logic errors.

HammondPearce added: "if programmers use ChatGPT-generated code without multiple and thorough tests, it may lead to a serious air crash."
