It is reported that the performance of ChatGPT in writing code can only be described as "for reference only". The AI tool is not designed to generate code, so it is prone to defective code. For the aviation industry, which places great emphasis on safety and stability, writing code using ChatGPT may lead to serious aviation safety risks.

HammondPearce, a lecturer in computer science and engineering at the University of New South Wales, said it was unreliable to write code using ChatGPT. They tried to create an aviation management system using ChatGPT, and the resulting code contained some logic errors.

HammondPearce added: "if programmers use ChatGPT-generated code without multiple and thorough tests, it may lead to a serious air crash."
