NASA said the interruption of communications did not pose any danger to the space station or astronauts. Joel Montalbano, ISS project manager, said: "this is completely a ground problem. However, the astronauts on the space station did not experience that kind of loneliness because they only lost contact for 20 minutes instead of 48 minutes, and they were still with each other. However, this incident also reminds us that it is possible to lose contact with humans in low-Earth orbit, even if it is only a few hundred kilometers from the ground.
