CTOnews.com, July 27 (Xinhua)-- German car brand Audi announced that global car sales in the second quarter of 2023 were 491400, up 23% from the same period last year. Global sales in the first half of this year were 907100, up 15.5% from the same period last year.

Audi says electric car sales hit another record high. Audi said global sales of pure electric vehicles (BEV) were 41100, up 59 per cent from a year earlier, accounting for 8.4 per cent of total sales, up from 6.5 per cent in the same period last year.

Audi said the main driver of BEV sales is the Q4 e-tron, which is based on the MEB platform, which sold 26700 vehicles in the quarter, accounting for 2/3 of all BEV models in the quarter.

Audi said it sold 75600 BEV electric vehicles in the first half of 2023, up 51 per cent from a year earlier and accounting for 8.3 per cent of total sales.

CTOnews.com note: Audi sold 118196 pure electric vehicles worldwide in 2022, up 44 per cent from a year earlier, when pure electric vehicles accounted for about 7.3 per cent of the brand's total sales.
