Thank you, Mr. Air, a netizen of CTOnews.com, for your clue delivery! CTOnews.com July 27, Google's self-driving company Waymo issued a press release today. Co-CEO Tekedra Mawakana and Dmitri Dolgov shared their new vision and roadmap.

The two chief executives talked about the future of generative AI, saying they would shift the focus of future work to the commercial taxi service Waymo One and strengthen their partnership with Daimler truck North America (DTNA).

Waymo launched its driverless taxi service Waymo One in San Francisco in November 2022, covering cities such as Daley City, Los Altos, Los Altos Mountains, Mountain View, Palo Alto and Sunnyvale.

Waymo has partnered with Renault, Geely, Fiat Chrysler and Lyft to bring more self-driving taxis to more markets.

Waymo says it is developing a fully self-driving car based on artificial intelligence called Waymo Driver for its service.

The two chief executives said they had shelved the trucking business for the time being and focused on promoting Waymo One, the taxi business.

In the announcement, Waymo said it would continue to work with DTNA to increase the technology development of self-driving trucks and continue to develop the Freightliner Cascadia platform, but the goal at this stage is research and development, not commercial use.

CTOnews.com attaches a link to Waymo's official press release here, which can be read in depth by interested users.
