CTOnews.com, July 27 (Reuters)-A subsidiary of Foxconn is in talks with the Indian state of Tamil Nadu to invest up to $200 million (CTOnews.com Note: about 1.428 billion yuan) to build a new electronic components factory in the region.

Terry Gou, chief executive of Foxconn Industrial Internet, and representatives of other companies met with Tamil Nadu officials, including its chief minister, last week to discuss investments in the state, according to two sources.

CTOnews.com Note: industrial USI mainly manufactures communications, mobile networks, cloud computing equipment, precision tools and industrial robots. It is reported that the company has shared an initial investment plan of $180 million to $200m with Tamil Nadu officials.

Foxconn already has a huge industrial park near the city of Chennai in Tamil Nadu, where it assembles products such as Apple's iPhone.

Foxconn aims to complete the plant by 2024, and further investment is expected later, according to one of the sources. However, both whistleblowers stressed that the two sides had not yet made a final decision.

In addition, Foxconn is in talks with the western state of Gujarat to enter India's semiconductor industry. Liu Deyin, chairman of Foxconn, is expected to speak at the government's annual semiconductor event this week.
