CTOnews.com, July 26 / PRNewswire-Asianet /-- Samsung today officially launched the Galaxy Z Fold 5 folding screen phone at the Galaxy Unpacked event in Seoul, claiming it is "the ultimate productivity device with a large screen." Although the new model has many similarities with the previous generation in the design language, it has brought some upgrades in terms of hardware and software.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and advanced heat dissipation system, which Samsung says can emit heat more intelligently. The new machine provides 12GB memory, 256GB, 512GB or 1TB storage.

One of the most significant hardware upgrades for Galaxy Z Fold 5 is the use of a brighter 7.6in Dynamic AMOLED 2X inner screen. The inner screen of Galaxy Z Fold 4 has a maximum brightness of 1200 nits, while that of Galaxy Z Fold 5 has increased by 30%, with a maximum brightness of 1750 nits. The panel also has an adaptive refresh rate of 1-120Hz and a resolution of 2176 x 1812. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 outer screen is a 6.2in Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with an aspect ratio of 23.1 120Hz, a resolution of 2316 x 904 pixels, and an adaptive refresh rate of 48-120Hz.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 has also become a little thinner, while retaining IPX8 waterproof and wireless charging 2.0, wireless reverse charging and other features, its 4400mAh dual battery supports 25W fast charging. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 folds with a thickness of 13.4mm (the previous generation is 14.2mm), unfolds with a thickness of 6.1mm, and weighs 253g (263g). Although Galaxy Z Fold 5 looks very similar to Z Fold 4, it uses a completely new hinge design that allows it to be completely closed without leaving a gap between the screens. Of course, the new phone still offers Flex mode, which allows users to partially fold the phone and use it in a new form.

For many users, the most exciting upgrade from Galaxy Z Fold 5 will be the software experience, with the new One UI 5.1.1 preloaded with a focus on improving multitasking and productivity. Galaxy Z Fold 5 still offers multi-window and App Continuity capabilities, but the taskbar has been improved to allow users to quickly switch between commonly used applications. At the same time, a new two-handed drag-and-drop feature allows users to drag an element with one finger, such as a picture in an album app, and then open a different application with another finger.

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 rear main camera is still a 5000-megapixel wide-angle camera with dual-pixel autofocus and optical anti-shake, supplemented by a 1200-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a 1000-megapixel telephoto sensor that supports PDAF, OIS and 3x optical zoom. The outer screen camera is a 1000-megapixel selfie camera, while the folding screen hides a 4-megapixel off-screen camera that is almost invisible.

The new machine supports Wi-Fi 6e, Bluetooth 5.3, side fingerprint sensor, two Nano-SIM card slots and an eSIM, and has an (optional) improved Slim S Pen Case that offers a variety of styles and colors. There are other optional accessories, such as transparent gadget shell, ecological leather shell and so on.

The Galaxy Z Fold 5, which can be ordered after its release today, will go on sale on August 11 and is available in ice blue, phantom black, cream, gray and blue, the latter two of which can only be purchased through Samsung's online store. In terms of price, the 256GB version costs 1749 pounds (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 16073 yuan), the 512GB version costs 1849 pounds (currently about 16992 yuan), and the 1TB version costs 2049 pounds (currently about 18830 yuan).
