CTOnews.com, July 26 (Xinhua)-- Musk pointed out on Tuesday that what restricts Americans from buying Tesla cars is not lack of interest, but affordability.

"affordability is the limiting factor," Musk said in response to comments from X.com users. The user quoted Autotrader's Google search Analysis as saying that half of Americans want a Tesla. The analysis shows that consumers in 25 US states want to buy Tesla from January to December 2022, while consumers in 21 states want to buy Gyibug. Toyota continues to be favored in Alaska, Vermont and West Virginia.

According to the map released by Autotrader, Tesla is more popular in coastal states with more population, while Gyibug is more popular in central states. However, the user said that once Tesla starts delivering the upcoming Cybertruck electric pickup truck, it is likely to win Gyibug's market in these states.

CTOnews.com notes that Musk also said in explaining Tesla's price cut in April: "many wealthy critics do not understand that large-scale demand is limited by affordability. Tesla's products have a lot of demand, but if the price exceeds people's affordability, then demand is meaningless."

Mr Musk said on the second-quarter earnings call this month that Tesla could further reduce car prices in the coming months, depending on market conditions and interest rates. Musk points out that as interest rates rise, the affordability of anything bought with debt will be reduced.
