Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, July 26, CTOnews.com friends who have experienced swimming in the river may know that the water quality in open water is usually muddy, in which swimming and diving can not see the external environment as clearly as the swimming pool, so it is difficult for divers to grasp the position of their companions at any time.

According to foreign media Dive Magazine, the relevant research team of the University of Washington has developed a diving watch App, which is specially designed for divers to grasp the position of their companies. the App is compatible with Apple Apple Watch Ultra and other "diving positioning watches" and uses the acoustic signals sent / received by the watch to determine the location of other companions.

According to the ▲ Touyuan Research team blog, as soon as the diver turns on the App on the watch, the watch will start to send / receive relevant acoustic signals using speakers and microphones, and the team leader's watch will send out an audible inquiry signal at regular intervals, and other divers' watches will receive these signals and send back a time-stamped response signal for positioning.

Because the App uses "trigonometric positioning" (to determine the distance and horizontal and vertical direction between divers by analyzing the signals received between watches), to determine the location of others, at least three users are required, one of whom is the diving team leader, and the distance between the three is no more than 98 feet.

So far, the technique has been tested in lakes and swimming pools to estimate the position of divers within a range of about 5 feet (1.5 meters). At present, the App is only for testing purposes and has not been put on sale in the application market. Even if the team plans to launch, it will have to go through a long review process by the relevant medical department, but at present, the relevant source code has been posted on the blog of the research team, and interested friends can understand it.

Justin Chan, a member of the team, said: "the technology embodied in the App is very useful, and the diving team leader can better detect the location of other companions and sound alarms in a simpler way to improve the diving experience while minimizing tragic events."
