CTOnews.com July 26, Microsoft recently updated the Windows development environment (Windows Development Environment,WDE). The version number is currently updated to 2307, which allows developers to develop applications in the Win11 environment without updating or switching systems.

WDE 2307 includes Win11 Enterprise Edition, which will be updated in Win11 Build 22621.1992 and has incorporated cumulative updates released on Tuesday event Day of the July patch this year.

WDE 2307 also includes many developer tools to reduce the time it takes for developers to configure the environment so that they can start developing applications right away. The main contents of CTOnews.com are as follows:

Visual Studio 2022 Community Edition with workloads such as USP, .NET Desktop, Azure, and Windows App SDK for C# enabled.

The Windows subsystem Linux 2 is enabled and Ubuntu is installed and pinned to the taskbar.

Windows developer mode is enabled.

It is important to note that downloading Microsoft's Windows 11 virtual machine requires at least 24GB disk space.

Users can use these virtual machines without activating or purchasing Windows keys until August 9, 2023 (keys for Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and 10 can also be used if they match SKU).

Once the evaluation period expires, the operating system turns the desktop background black, starts popping up continuous activation notifications, and automatically shuts down every hour.

However, Microsoft releases an updated version of WDE every month, extending the validity period (version 2307 expires on October 10, 2023).
