The top 30 mobile games accounted for more than 50% of the total revenue of Chinese mobile games going abroad.

Overseas RPG and strategic mobile games earned more than $7.5 billion and $5 billion in the first half of 2023, making them the highest-paid mobile games category, the report said. Revenue from puzzles, sports and board games rose significantly in overseas markets, while revenues from chess and card games and simulated mobile games rebounded slightly. In the first half of 2023, the overseas revenue of mobile games represented by the strategy of "Universal Awakening" exceeded 2.8 billion US dollars, accounting for 38% of the total revenue of Chinese mobile games going to sea. It was followed by RPG mobile games, which accounted for 27% of the total revenue of mobile games going to sea.

The United States and Japan are still popular markets for Chinese mobile games to go out to sea. In the first half of 2023, the domestic purchase income of mobile games in the United States and Japan reached US $11 billion and US $7 billion, while the income of Chinese mobile game products in these two markets exceeded US $2 billion and US $1.6 billion respectively, accounting for 50 per cent of the total revenue of Chinese mobile games going to sea.
