CTOnews.com quoted the media as saying that if Nokia does not reach a settlement with OPPO within the specified time, and if the German Federal Patent Court makes the same ruling as the French court, then Nokia will face huge compensation claims, far exceeding the 400000 euros (CTOnews.com Note: about 3.184 million yuan) legal fees demanded by the French court.

In June, the Mannheim District Court upheld Nokia's claim and rejected OPPO's tort lawsuit against Nokia.

However, at a subsequent objection hearing, the European Patent Office (EPO) appeal committee declared Nokia's patent EP2087626 invalid. The patent relates to adaptive modulation in 3G networks. Specifically, it discloses additional modulation information for issuing signaling for high-speed downlink packet access.

In the latest French lawsuit, a French court declared Nokia's EP1704731 patent invalid because it lacked creative steps.

The French court also invalidated another EP1702486 patent and will announce its ruling on Thursday.
