Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, July 25 (Xinhua)-- shipments of "made in Vietnam" mobile phones fell 23.1% in the first quarter of 2023 compared with the same period last year, affected by a sharp drop in Samsung's orders, according to the latest report released by market research firm Counterpoint Research.

The report said shipments of Samsung's "made in Vietnam" mobile phones fell by 22.5%, mainly in smartphones, with shipments down 22.8%.

Shipments of Nokia-branded "made in Vietnam" phones fell by 40.2%, of which the number of feature phones fell by 37.7%.

"Vietnam, as the mobile manufacturing center of Samsung and North American markets, has been hit by global economic fluctuations and regional conflicts, resulting in weak regional demand and consumption," said Ivan Lam, a senior analyst.

According to Counterpoint's made in Vietnam manufacturing ecosystem tracking report, Samsung dominated mobile's total manufacturing output in Vietnam in the first quarter of 2023, but Foxconn is the leading EMS supplier because of its more advanced production facilities and relatively low service costs.
