On July 25, chip giant Intel will release its second-quarter results on Friday, while its competitor AMD will release second-quarter results on August 2, next Tuesday.

According to AMD's official website, their second-quarter results will be released after the close of trading on August 1, local time, while a conference call with financial analysts will begin at 2:00 Pacific Daylight time on August 1, that is, 5:00 Beijing time on August 2.

For the second quarter, in its first-quarter results released on May 2, AMD expected revenue of $5.3 billion, up and down by $300 million, or $5 billion to $5.6 billion, with a gross profit margin of about 50% under non-GAAP.

According to the expectations given by AMD, their revenue in this quarter is the same as the previous quarter, but will decline compared with the same period last year.

In the second quarter of last year, AMD had revenues of $6.55 billion, with a gross margin of 54 per cent under non-GAAP; in the first quarter of this year, AMD's revenues were $5.353 billion, down from $5.887 billion in the same period in 2021, down 9 per cent from a year earlier.

According to AMD's estimates, if their second-quarter revenue falls below the expected ceiling of $5.6 billion, it will fall by more than 14.5% year-on-year, up from 9% in the first quarter.
