It is reported that BMW did not disclose the name of the artificial intelligence tool, saying simply that the tool is "mainly aimed at the company's workshop" and can "optimize the manufacturing process, improve efficiency, reduce waste and predict equipment failures".

Curtis Tingle, group manager of BMW, said in an interview with foreign media that if AI detects the wrong bolt position, the AI system will automatically tell the robotic arm to repair it. BMW also said that it has also introduced AI to improve its quality control process. Camille Roberts, the company's IT project director, said that the 26 cameras installed on the floor of the production line will take pictures of various parts of the body when the vehicle is off the line, and then AI will analyze the photos and determine if there is room for improved quality control.

At present, many industries are using AI to reduce the manpower input in the production line. Although these measures to optimize the manufacturing process are very beneficial to the company's profits, they will face the risk of being eliminated for human resources themselves.
