The system, better known as "Android 4.4", was released in November 2013.

The news was officially announced by Google on the Android developer blog, with a full blog post on CTOnews.com:

The Android KitKat (KK) platform was first released 10 years ago, and since then, we have introduced many innovative improvements and features for Android that are no longer available on the KK platform.

As of July 2023, as more and more users updated to the latest version of Android, the number of active devices on KK had fallen below 1 per cent. Therefore, we will no longer support KK in future releases of Google Play services. The KK device will receive version 23.30.99 of Play Services APK.

As of May 2023, Android 11 is by far the most widely used version of Android, according to the report. Surprisingly, there are still 15 million devices using Android 4.4, but Android 4.4 accounts for only about 0.5% of the global share compared to other available versions.

According to the official website of Google, Android 4.4 is a mobile operating system released by Google on November 1, 2013. it can support Emoji input and adds low-power audio and location mode to further reduce the power consumption of the device. Contact payment function is added in Android 4.4.The payment can be done on the mobile phone through NFC and smart card. In addition, the system also supports the application of full-screen mode, screen recording and other functions.
