CTOnews.com July 25, Sony today officially launched its new generation of real wireless headphones, the Sony WF-1000XM5, which will go on sale in August with a suggested retail price of $299.99 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 2157 yuan) / 259 pounds (currently about 2393 yuan) / 499 Australian dollars (currently about 2415 yuan). Sony WF-1000XM5 has carried out a comprehensive upgrade on the basis of the original Sony WF-1000XM4, and has significantly improved in terms of sound quality, noise reduction performance, call effect and wearing comfort.

The Sony WF-1000XM5 uses a new moving coil unit, which Sony calls the Dynamic Driver X, which increases the diameter from 6mm to 8.4mm, and uses a new rigid frame design that provides a finer voice and deeper bass while reducing distortion. In addition, the new headphones are equipped with a new HD noise reduction processor QN2e and an integrated processor V2, which can also bring excellent sound quality and low distortion. Headphones also support spatial audio, and compatible applications can also take advantage of integrated head tracking to achieve more realistic stereo effects.

The Sony WF-1000XM5 comes with three microphones and two processors for each headset, up from two and one. The new headphones also add a bone conduction sensor and an improved feedforward microphone grid for speech recognition. The noise reduction algorithm based on artificial intelligence can highlight the user's voice in the noisy environment, and the headphones are specially designed to reduce wind noise.

Sony says the WF-1000XM5 is the "best noise reduction headset" in the true wireless headset market.

Sony WF-1000XM5 has also made significant improvements in terms of wearing comfort. In order to adapt to different sizes of ears, an ultra-small SS earplug is added, and the shape of the earplug is redesigned to reduce the air pressure inside the ear and improve comfort. In addition, the XM5 is 25 per cent smaller and 20 per cent lighter than the previous generation.

In terms of battery life, the Sony WF-1000XM5 is consistent with the previous generation, headphones provide 8 hours of playback time, and charging boxes provide additional 24 hours of playback time. The charging box supports QC wireless charging function, which can be played for 1 hour in 3 minutes. Bluetooth version is 5.3 and supports multipoint connection between two devices.

Sony WF-1000XM5 still has IPX4 waterproof properties, and like LinkBuds S, headphones and charging boxes are made from recycled materials in some parts.
