CTOnews.com noted that most of the existing new energy vehicle license plates begin with the prefix D (pure electric vehicle) and F (not pure electric vehicle), but there are also other letters for pure electric vehicles such as "A", "B", "C" and "E", as well as other letters "G", "H", "J" and "K" for non-pure electric vehicles.

When the initial "D" or "F" segments of the DMV in a certain area are issued, new segments such as "A" or "G" will be issued. At present, Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Guangzhou and other places have begun to issue new segments with the initials "A".
