CTOnews.com, July 24, Debian is one of the oldest GNU / Linux distributions and the basis for many other Linux-based operating systems, including Ubuntu, Kali, MX, and raspberry pie OS. This operating system focuses on stability and does not pursue fancy new features, so it often takes a long time for new versions to be released.

In early June this year, Debian 12 "bookworm" was released, and Debian ushered in version 12.1 a few days ago, mainly fixing a number of security problems such as system user creation.

▲ source Debian official blog CTOnews.com found that Debian 12.1 has roughly improved the following:

Properly handle the creation of system users; fix the problem of subdirectory processing in equal match

Fixed a hang when using LDAP validated by Kerberos

Fixed the playback problem of custom alarm clock sound

Fixed rendering problems with text uploads

Add libboost-json1.81.0 missing dependencies to libboost-json1.81-dev

Correct recovery of POSIX ACL

Enable sockets in ConTeXt mtxrun

Fix buffer overflow vulnerability [CVE-2023-34095]

Fix problems with CRLF injection [CVE-2023-26130]

Fix the default acquis.yaml so that it also contains Journalctl data sources, but is limited to ssh.service units to ensure that it can be obtained even without traditional auth.log files; ensure that invalid data sources do not cause engine errors

Security fix: use-after-free [CVE-2023-34241]; heap buffer overflow [CVE-2023-32324]

Configure the full path to ssh

Increase Linux kernel ABI to 6.1.0-10; rebuild based on recommended updates

Fix default DNF const PYTHON_INSTALL_DIR

Fixed several small vulnerabilities [CVE-2022-2309], [CVE-2023-30570]

Fixed several memory leaks

Improved support for GTK 4

Fixed several Host glitches

Debian 12.1 is essentially a minor fix for Debian 12, which is currently the mainstream version of Debian, bringing thousands of new and updated software packages that support a variety of desktop environments and processor architectures (including 32-bit and 64-bit PC, ARM, MIPS, and PowerPC), but one of the biggest changes is the upgrade of the Linux kernel from 5.10 to 6.1 LTS (with newer drivers and support for new hardware) And at least long-term support until December 2026).

Other changes to Debian 12 include the reintroduction of secure boot on the ARM64 system, support for reading and writing to the APFS Apple file system, new works of art, and new versions of the desktop environment, including Gnome 43, KDE Plasma 5.27, LXDE 11, LXQt 1.2.0, MATE 1.26 and Xfce 4.18.
