CTOnews.com, July 24-Hon Hai's electric vehicle plant in Lordstown, Ohio, has been granted a draft license to install air pollution control facilities. The latest news shows that Hon Hai intends to increase production at its Ohio plant to 350000 vehicles a year.

Foxconn EV System LLC, a subsidiary of Hon Hai, has applied to the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (Ohio EPA) for permission to install air pollution control equipment at the Lordstown plant.

The application indicates that Hon Hai intends to increase the annual production of electric vehicles at the Lodstown plant to 350000. The application also mentioned that Foxconn hopes to produce a variety of models here, including electric cars.

The draft license states that the company is seeking to install an electric wiring system and a primer surface coating line. The plant also plans to add a thermal oxidant to control emissions from the new production line.

The draft license means that the document has been reviewed by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and may hold a public meeting to solicit public opinion on the project. CTOnews.com Note: the local government must submit a request for a public hearing within 30 days after the release.

John McIlroy, an analyst at Autoline, said that under the proposed plant expansion plan, he thought Foxconn must be confident that it would be able to obtain sufficient car production, whether with the previously announced Fiskar car contract or another car contract.
