On July 24, Alibaba Group released the Environment, Society and Governance report (2023) (hereinafter referred to as the "ESG report"). The report shows that in fiscal year 2023, Cainiao reduced the amount of packaging materials by more than 184000 tons, and the recycling of cartons at Cainiao post stations reached a new high of 23.82 million. At present, Cainiao has built a full-link green logistics system, from the order, packaging, transportation, warehousing, recycling these five main logistics links to promote the realization of logistics carbon reduction goals and system transformation.

In fiscal year 2023, Cainiao led the industry and consumers to reduce packaging materials in a variety of ways. In terms of packaging reduction, Cainiao develops simple packaging programs in line with the characteristics of different industries, reduces the use of cartons from the source, actively promotes the delivery of original boxes and old packaging, and reduces the use of packaging materials by more than 184000 tons in one year. In terms of packaging recycling, the number of cartons recorded digitally by rookie post stations reached 23.82 million, a new high.

In the fiscal year, Cainiao vigorously promoted the electrification of short-haul urban distribution. As of March 31, 2023, the number of urban distribution electric vehicles used by Cainiao Express accounted for 33%, and the logistics order of Xiaoman Donkey exceeded 29 million, setting a new record for unmanned distribution at the end of China. The installed capacity of distributed photovoltaic on the roof of Cainiao warehouse increased to 30.0MW from 24.9MW last year, an increase of 20.5% over the same period last year. Combined with trading clean power, this alone achieved a carbon reduction of 21003.2 tons in fiscal 2023.

In addition to its own carbon reduction, rookie gives full play to the advantages of digital technology to provide low-carbon logistics solutions for ecological partners. In July 2022, Yili signed a green strategic cooperation agreement with Cainiao to jointly establish a green recycling link for old packaging relying on the "full-link carbon reduction digital system". It covers the whole link of consumer participation, transshipment inventory, recovery and recycling, and forecasting model, and solves the difficult problem of consumer packaging recovery. With the support of the postal administrations of Zhejiang, Anhui, Hunan and Guangxi, Cainiao has launched a pilot digital carbon asset management system for the postal express industry to promote scientific carbon reduction in the industry, and the first pilot system has been launched in Anhui.

Alibaba ESG report shows that in addition to green logistics, Cainiao emergency logistics system has achieved remarkable results. Cainiao has cooperated with 28 public welfare organizations, such as China Rural Development Foundation, Shenzhen one Foundation Public Welfare Foundation, and Eide Foundation, and launched a public welfare material tracking system to visually track material flow online throughout the process. to a certain extent, assist public welfare organizations to upgrade digitally. As of March 31, 2023, Cainiao has delivered more than 300 million pieces of medical and daily necessities to more than 150 countries and regions around the world. In March this year, Cainiao signed a global logistics cooperation agreement with the United Nations World Food Program (WFP), which is the first time that a Chinese logistics company has become a global logistics partner of WFP.
