In fact, these rules can be broken, sometimes the photo exposure is "abnormal", but will be more artistic.

A few days ago in the evening in the park, I happened to see the sunset illuminate the bristlegrass and took a picture casually. My first reaction to this scene was to lower the exposure, so I got the second picture.

But I thought it was still too bright, so I used the image modification software to further reduce the exposure, increased the warm tone, and got the third picture.

If you follow the usual way of lightening and darkening, you will get the first picture.

01. Classification of tone according to the overall brightness of the photo, we can divide it into three categories: high-key, middle-key and low-key.

If we continue to subdivide, each tone can be subdivided into three types: long tone, middle tone and short tone.

After the combination, you can get nine types:

High profile: high long tone, high middle tone, high and short tone.

Middle key: medium-long key, medium-key, medium-short key.

Low key: low long key, low medium key, low short key.

02, how to determine the tone we have learned the meaning of the histogram, do not understand can first take a look at: learn to look at the "histogram" in photography, judge the exposure and tone of the photo!

If the photo is relatively bright as a whole and the histogram is mainly distributed on the right, then this is a high-profile photo.

However, the photos can not all be highlighted areas, there are bound to be some medium brightness, or even darker places.

Therefore, although the histogram of the photo is mainly distributed on the right, there will be a small amount of distribution on the left and in the middle.

The distribution span of the histogram is very long, covering multiple dark-medium-bright areas, so this is a long tone. Because the histogram is mainly distributed in the high-profile area, it is a high-profile.

If the distribution span is not long or short, covering the medium-bright two areas, then this is a middle tone. The photo is a high school tune photo.

If the distribution span is very short, all in the highlighted area, then this is a short tone. The photo is a high-key picture.

Other tones are also judged in this way.

03. The influence of shadow tone on emotion when the photo is high-profile, it will make people feel white, bright, holy, pure, sunny, positive, optimistic, fresh and so on.

When the photo is low-key, it will make people feel dark, depressed, mysterious, scared, sad, calm, magical and so on.

Although the middle tone is relatively common, it covers a wide range and is suitable for the expression of most themes.

Long, medium and short tone, in fact, is whether there is a strong contrast in the photo, which not only affects the visual feeling, but also brings emotional guidance.
