Thank CTOnews.com netizens soft media Xinyou 1933769 for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com, July 23 (Xinhua) according to a new report released by Canalys, the Indian smartphone market was strong in the second quarter of 2023, with shipments holding steady at 36.1 million units, down only 1% from a year earlier and up 18% from a month earlier.

Data show that Samsung still holds the top spot in the Indian market, with a market share of 18% (6.6 million units shipped), followed by vivo, which regained its second place after the first quarter, with 6.4 million units shipped, with a market share of about 18%.

Subsequent Xiaomi shipped 5.4 million units, accounting for a market share of about 15 per cent, down 22 per cent from a year earlier, while realme and OPPO (excluding one plus) were in the top five, with shipments of 4.3 million and 3.7 million, respectively, accounting for 12 per cent and 10 per cent, down 29 per cent and 7 per cent respectively.

Sanyam Chaurasia, an analyst at Canalys India, said offline consumer demand has increased significantly in both urban and rural areas because of consumers' strong preference for offline shopping.

Manufacturers are trying to strike a better balance between offline and online channels. For example, Infinix, a sub-brand that transmits sound, has achieved significant growth through e-commerce channels, while Tecno and iTel focus on offline channels in secondary cities.

One plus has achieved steady growth with Nord CE 3 Lite 5G and has established a solid foothold in offline channels in smaller cities. Realme focuses on offline channels, of which the C55 accounts for 29% of its sales, but its online shipments are slightly higher than offline.

According to CTOnews.com, Xiaomi was arguably number one in the Indian market until Q4 in 2022, then gradually weakened, but regained momentum in the second quarter of 2023, such as Redmi A2 and 12C, which fully led the growth in sales, while the recent launch of the C51 under its Poco brand also boosted shipments.
