Self-repairing polymer-coated cars can repair their own scratches and restore the surface to their original state in a few hours, removing scratches or water from cameras and lidar sensors on self-driving cars.
This technique takes advantage of the characteristics of the self-repairing material, in which the split polymer in the coating undergoes a chemical reaction to restore its original state when it is scratched.
Hyundai is considering applying the technology to the surfaces of camera lenses and LiDAR sensors used in self-driving cars.
Series solar cells introduced in the event "series solar cells" are produced by combining the next-generation solar material perovskite with silicon solar cells. More than 35% energy efficiency can be achieved by stacking two solar cells that absorb sunlight in different spectral ranges.
Hyundai believes that by applying tandem solar cells to areas exposed to direct sunlight, such as engine covers, ceilings and doors of environmentally friendly cars, it will be possible to generate enough electricity for daily driving.
