CTOnews.com LIVE: Amazon's Kuiper program is one of several "mega-constellations" already in space or about to launch, competing with SpaceX's Starlink network and OneWeb's broadband constellation.

Over the next six months, Amazon plans to begin production of Kuiper satellites at a new 172,000-square-foot facility in Kirkland, Washington. Meanwhile, a 100,000-square-foot facility is being built at NASA's Kennedy Space Center as a satellite processing facility dedicated to the Kuiper program.

Amazon, which plans to deploy some 1618 satellites by July 2026, signed the largest commercial launch contract in history last year, grabbing access to ULA's Vulcan rocket, Blue Origin's New Glenn and Arianespace's Ariane 6 launchers.
