Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com July 21 news, AMD has now released AGESA 1007B microcode, bringing higher memory frequency support to the AM5 motherboard. However, foreign media tests found that the game benchmark test of the AMD Sharon 7000 processor using the latest BIOS shows that there is no performance difference between DDR5-6200 and DDR5-7400.

According to reports, foreign media Quasarzone uses Asustek ROG STRIX X670E-E Gaming WIFI motherboard to update it to the latest 1514 BETA BIOS based on AGESA 1.0.0.7b firmware.

The memory uses a pair of Coffee DDR5 (16 GB x 2) models and operates in two configurations: DDR5-6200 (CL30-36-32-66) in 1:1 mode and DDR5-7400 (CL34-46-44-80) in 1:2 mode. The processors used in the test are R9 7950X and R7 7800X3D of AMD.

The source Quasarzone is shown above. In the 1080p and 1440p game tests, there is basically no difference between the DDR5-6200 and DDR5-7400 platforms, and there is even a slight performance degradation on the DDR5-7400 platform.

Because the DDR5-7400 memory runs in 1:2 mode, which halves the IMC frequency, and the higher frequency configuration also has a higher timing, these factors may not improve the game performance. However, DDR5-7400 also brings more total bandwidth, which will be beneficial to the kernel performance release of desktop APU in the future.

According to CTOnews.com earlier, the AMD AM5 motherboard did not support high-frequency memory above DDR5-6200 very well, but AMD's newly released AGESA 1007B microcode supports high-frequency memory, and some overclocking players have used the AMD B650E motherboard to overclock memory to DDR5-9058.
