CTOnews.com, July 21 (Xinhua)-- Google launched Privacy Sandbox in 2019 and plans to replace the third-party cookie in web browsers.

Google today issued a press release announcing that it plans to allow 35% of Chrome 115 stable browser users to be the first to enable Privacy Sandbox API from July 24.

CTOnews.com translated parts of the Google press release as follows:

After installing a version update or incremental API update, the user needs to restart the Chrome browser to enable Privacy Sandbox API. This means that extra time is needed to achieve the target in the actual implementation process.

Google said it plans to increase the number of users to 60 per cent of Chrome 115 users in early August and 99 per cent by mid-August after inviting 35 per cent of Chrome 115users to test. Google plans to enable Privacy Sandbox API by default in Chrome 116stable Edition.

Google has previously said it plans to eliminate all third-party Cookie browsers in the second half of 2024.

Google says the Privacy Sandbox plan aims to develop technologies that protect users' online privacy and provide companies and developers with tools to develop digital businesses, so that everyone can easily access open networks and applications.

Privacy Sandbox is an ongoing program that integrates ideas from across the industry into new proposals and tests, reviews, and iteratively improves them.
