When you study photography, you can often hear the word "advanced sense". In popular terms, the picture looks very high-end.

There are many ways to make photos feel advanced. Today we share a common post-editing method, which uses ps to create light and dark gradients to form contrast and enhance the light and shadow texture of photos.

The scope of application of this later method is also relatively wide, which is reflected in landscape photography, portrait imagination and product photography.

# 01 take the following spectroscopic photo as an example, which shows the sunset of Gongbei Stone, one of the most famous landmarks of Mount Tai. As a matter of fact, the sun was still high when I arrived that day, so I lay down next to me and had a rest until the Keystone was just enough to block the sun.

The first step: at that time, the light ratio was very large, so we took pictures of the sky and the ground respectively, and got two photos with different exposures, which were combined with exposure later. Then make a simple brightness color adjustment, at this time the photo has begun to take shape, but still lack a certain light and dark texture.

Step 2: open the camera Raw filter and select a linear gradient. Adjust the parameters on the right to reduce the exposure appropriately to make the brightness lower. Reduce the color temperature value to make the color blue. In order to prevent too much noise, you can also increase the value of noise reduction and reduce the detail texture. The sky is already smooth, so it doesn't need much detail.

Then in the sky area, pull the gradient from the top down. In addition to the sky, you can also pull a few gradients from around the ground.

In order to make the light and shade of the photo look more natural, you can make several gradual changes in Dora from multiple directions. Note that when pulling the gradient, do not pull too short, so as not to make the transition too hasty and stiff.

Step 3: then select the radial gradient. Adjust the rightmost parameters, increase the exposure appropriately, and the color temperature is yellow. Then pull a few gradients around the sun.

The effect of a linear gradient is from one end to the other, and the effect of a radial gradient is from the center of the circle to the edge.

Step 4: adjust the color and overall exposure, complete.

# 02 you can also use ordinary brightness tools and masks to adjust in ps.

Step 1: click the New Adjustment layer button in the layers panel and select "Curve".

Step 2: pull the curve down from the middle position, when the whole picture is darkened.

Step 3: select the brush tool, the hardness is 0, the color is black, and apply it where you don't need to darken.

Step 4: where you need to highlight, use the lasso tool to make a selection, press and hold shift+F6, and adjust the feathering value to 5. Then repeat the first step.

Step 5: pull up the curve, the place you just selected is highlighted. If you feel too unnatural, you can select the curve layer, double-click the mask, select Properties, and increase the feathering value.

Step 6: increase the saturation, adjust the color a little, and finish the revision.

# 03 We can also use the "DB method" in the later stage of photography to make more fine adjustments, that is, "lighten (brighten)" and "darken (darken)".

Step 1: open the photo for basic exposure and color adjustment.

Step 2: create a new blank layer above the photo and change the blending mode to "soft light". It can also be changed to "superposition". The effect of superposition is stronger and not easy to control.

Step 3: select the brush tool, adjust the hardness to 0, opacity and flow to 15% (as long as it is not too large).

Choose white and apply it repeatedly where you need to brighten it.

Choose black and apply it repeatedly where you need to darken it.

The use of late-stage technology to increase the gradient of light and shade can make the light and shadow of the photo more beautiful and enhance the three-dimensional sense.

However, when in use, we must consider the actual direction of light and shadow, distinguish the light-receiving surface, backlight surface, reflective surface, transition surface and so on, and mold them according to the light direction so as to avoid serious penetration.
