CTOnews.com, July 21 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-- Research firm DevJobsScanner has released the most needed programming language data for 2023 (January 2022 to May 2023), showing that programming languages such as JavaScript, Python and Java are still popular in the workplace.

According to a query by CTOnews.com, the data for the report came from a total of 14 million developer positions surveyed by DecJobsScanner. The research company screened positions with clear programming language requirements and finally came up with the relevant results.

At present, the top eight languages in demand in the market are:

1 、 JavaScript/TypeScript

The icon of JavaScript / TypeScript, the source of ▲, is as popular as ever, and JavaScript is the most popular programming language at the moment. The arrival of TypeScript also accelerates the realization of this situation. TypeScript has become increasingly popular among developers in recent years, such as Angular or NestJS. Many new JavaScript frameworks are written entirely in TypeScript.

From January 2022 to May 2023, DevJobsScanner found a total of 915000 jobs with JavaScript or TypeScript requirements, accounting for about 29% of jobs with clear programming language requirements.

Icon Python of Python, the source of ▲ graphics, is the two most popular programming language in 2023. According to DevJobsScanner, Python stands out because of its functional and active community. Between January 2022 and May 2023, researchers found a total of 603000 jobs, accounting for about 20%.

Java, the icon of Java, the source of ▲ graphics, is the third most popular programming language, and although the popularity of Java has declined in the past few years with the advent of more modern languages, it still firmly occupies the top three position with the use of cardinality. There are many well-known companies using frameworks like Spring, which also helps Java maintain this position.

Researchers found a total of 546000 jobs in the past 17 months, accounting for about 17%.

Researchers found a total of 375000 C # jobs in the past 17 months, accounting for about 12%.

Icon PHP of php, the source of ▲ graphics, is the fifth most popular programming language, which was born 25 years ago. However, as of May 2023, PHP still accounts for 10% of the total demand for developer positions, which means that 1 in 10 development positions requires PHP.

PHP is mainly used for Web development, in conjunction with frameworks such as Laravel or Wordpress.

It is widely used in the industry, but demand for C / C++ appears to have slowed in 2023, from nearly 13 per cent in February to 7 per cent in May of the same year.

The most popular use of the Ruby language is in conjunction with the Web framework RubyonRails. Although it ranks seventh, Ruby is actually used on platforms such as Twitter and Github.

Google designed Go to improve programming efficiency in an era of multi-core, networked machines and large code bases, and Go's popularity is slowly growing, and DevJobsScanner expects the language to make it into the top five next year.

It is reported that Uber, Twitch and other companies are using Go.

JavaScript and TypeScript together account for 29% of jobs that clearly need a programming language, which means that almost one in three jobs requires JavaScript or TypeScript.

Python and Java are still the second and third most popular programming languages in 2023, respectively, providing a large number of jobs.

But it's worth noting that Java is closing the gap with Python, with Java outnumbering Python in a few months in the survey. As a result, DevJobsScanner believes that "those who say Java is an outdated programming language may need to rethink the wording."

C #, PHP, Ruby, and Go all show stable employment needs, indicating that they can all be used as reliable choices for programming languages.

It is worth noting, however, that while the demand for C / C++ will increase in 2022, they all face a downward trend as far as 2023 is concerned.
