In the first half of this year, the national online retail sales totaled 7.16 trillion yuan, an increase of 13.1 percent over the same period last year. The overall scale of China's online retail market showed a steady growth trend.

▲ source Pexels data show that in the first half of the year, 8 of the 18 categories of monitored commodities grew by more than double digits, of which gold, silver, jewelry and communication equipment increased by 33.5% and 23.3% respectively compared with the same period last year.

In addition, the growth of online service consumption is also good. In the first half of the year, online catering sales increased by 27.9% compared with the same period last year, while online tourism products and scenic spot tickets, and online entertainment sales increased by 272.4% and 69.8% respectively.

From a regional perspective, online retail sales in the central, eastern, western and northeast regions increased by 16.1%, 13%, 11.5% and 9.1% respectively over the same period last year, up 4.8%, 4.4%, 4.6% and 5.4% respectively over the first quarter.

In the first half of the year, rural online retail sales reached 1.12 trillion yuan, an increase of 12.5 percent over the same period last year and 3.7 percentage points higher than that of the first quarter. Of this total, the online retail sales of physical goods in rural areas totaled 1.02 trillion yuan, an increase of 11.3 percent over the same period last year. Online retail sales of agricultural products nationwide totaled 270 billion yuan, an increase of 13.1% over the same period last year.

CTOnews.com learned from the official that in the first half of the year, the cumulative live broadcast sales of the key monitoring e-commerce platform was 1.27 trillion yuan, the cumulative number of live shows exceeded 110 million, the number of live broadcast commodities exceeded 70 million, and the number of active anchors exceeded 2.7 million.
