CTOnews.com, July 20, in Tesla's second quarter 2023 earnings conference call, Tesla CEO Musk announced that car owners can now transfer fully autonomous driving (FSD) services purchased from old cars to new cars.

Tesla allows car owners who have bought a $15,000 FSD service to transfer software packages to the new car, but only if they place an order this quarter (by the end of September). Musk called it a "one-off" special offer, with the window of opportunity only 70 days away.

Mr Musk also said at the meeting that Tesla was licensing its FSD driving assistance technology to another large carmaker. He did not name the company, but Mr Musk said it had always been part of Tesla's plan to license FSD to other carmakers.

It is reported that the FSD software bought by the car owner Tesla spent 15000 US dollars (CTOnews.com note: 64000 yuan) can only be bound with the purchased vehicle, even if the car owner buys another Tesla car, he needs to buy a new FSD software, which is quite unfriendly to the owner's wallet.
