CTOnews.com July 20, Intel this week announced plans to adopt Intel 18A (1.8nm process) of two third-party customers, Boeing and Northrop Grumman.

Figure Source: Intel Intel 18A (1.8nm) process is one of Intel's newly named processes. In 2020, Intel proposed Intel 7, Intel 4, Intel 3 and Intel 20A, Intel 18A and other advanced processes, and plans to launch one generation a year.

Intel 4, Intel 3 and Intel 20A, Intel 18A four-generation advanced processes are developed by two teams at the same time. Among them, Intel 20A will be mass produced in the first half of 2024 as planned, and has reached a cooperation with Qualcomm.

The Intel 18A process was originally planned for mass production in 2025, but it is now advancing faster than expected and will be mass produced half a year ahead of schedule in the second half of 2024.

CTOnews.com reported in March this year that Wang Rui, senior vice president and chairman of Intel China, said that Intel 7 has been mass produced, Intel 4 will be launched in the second half of this year and will be used in core processors (Meter Lake). Intel 3 is moving forward as planned, and the test chips of Intel 20A (2nm) and Intel 18A (1.8nm) have been released.
