CTOnews.com, July 20 (Xinhua)-- Google today issued a press release announcing the launch of a desktop version of the "nearby share" (Nearby Share) feature on Win10 and Win11, which makes it easy for users to quickly transfer photos, files and videos between Android devices and PC.

Google said that the Win10 and Win11 version of Nearby Share began testing in March this year, during which time it received a lot of user feedback and suggestions. After many BUG fixes, the feature has stabilized and is now open to all users.

Google says more than 1.7 million people have tested the feature during the Beta test period in the past few months, transferring more than 50 million files between Android devices and PC.

Google added an estimated time to complete the file transfer. This can be helpful when users send large files, such as videos or entire folders, and want to see their sharing speed.

An image preview is provided in the device notification to help users confirm that the current shared file is correct.

Google says the Windows version of Nearby Share works for all PC, but will be specially optimized for some models through partnerships with companies such as Hewlett-Packard. HP's Dragonfly Pro is one of the first PC with Nearby Share pre-installed.
